Early Life
Rebecca Mae was born Rebecca Mae Martin on February 21, 1968, in Bryn Mawr, PA. She was raised for a short time in Paoli, PA, and then lived in New Hampshire, Colorado and Missouri.
Although she began singing at her local church at the age of 17 while living in Missouri, Rebecca did not receive any feedback on the quality of her voice until the age of 19. At that time, a friend of the family heard her singing and insisted on paying for professional voice lessons. At the age of 19, she began formal voice lessons at Keene State College in Keene, NH.
